Mobile Physiotherapy Austral
Austral is where Ahmed Elsayed, our principal physiotherapist, first worked as a physio in Australia. It's where his career here started, and our story begins in this part of South-West Sydney.
What Austral doesn't have is a Well Motion clinic. We cover Austral NSW 2179 as a mobile, in-home service. A physiotherapist comes to your home with the equipment a proper session needs, and works through the same root-cause approach we use at our Engadine, Mount Annan, Narellan/Harrington Park and Appin clinics. It doesn't matter whether you're on an older acreage block or a lot that has only just been registered.
Why a home visit makes sense in Austral
A first visit runs like a full clinic appointment, just in your space. We talk through what happened and what you're trying to get back to. Then we assess properly, treat hands-on where that's the right call, and leave you with a plan you can do between sessions.
The part we take out is the travel. Austral is a driving suburb: homes here average two cars each 1, and Council itself describes the area as having limited bus routes 3. There's no train station in the suburb. The nearest is at Leppington, which opened in 2015 3,4. That's fine until the injury is the reason you can't drive. At that point, getting to a clinic becomes the hardest part of getting better. A home visit removes it.
Full service detail is on our Mobile & In-Home Physiotherapy page. If something happens outside normal hours, our 24/7 after-hours emergency mobile service covers Austral too.
A suburb still being built
For most of its history Austral was small acreage, with many blocks of at least two hectares 2. It only became a suburb in its own right in 1972, having been part of West Hoxton 2. That's changing quickly. Austral and Leppington North were rezoned as part of the South West Growth Area to take at least 17,350 homes. More than 2,000 new lots have been registered since, currently around 175 a quarter 3.
The people moving in are young. The median age in Austral is 31, against 38 nationally, and households average 3.1 people 1. Four schools sit inside the suburb: Austral Public School on Edmondson Avenue, plus Al-Faisal College, St Anthony of Padua Catholic School and Unity Grammar 3.
That mix brings a recognisable set of problems. Rolled ankles and sore knees from junior sport. A lower back that has carried a toddler on one hip for two years. Shoulders and backs that took the strain of a house move, or of a working day spent lifting on one of the building sites going up around you. Most of these don't start with one dramatic moment. They build up, get worked around, and then stop you.
Areas We Cover
All of Austral, postcode 2179 8, in the City of Liverpool 2. Its streets include numbered avenues, such as Fourth, Eighth, Tenth and Fifteenth Avenues 3. Whichever avenue you're on, from Scott Park and Austral Public School on Edmondson Avenue 3 to the newest registered lots, you're inside our coverage.
Neighbouring suburbs have their own pages: Kemps Creek, Rossmore, Leppington, Denham Court, West Hoxton and Middleton Grange. We also cover Cecil Park.
Liverpool has its own page, and everywhere else we travel is on our service areas page.
NDIS & WorkCover Support
Well Motion is a registered NDIS provider, provider number 4-KPN4WRT. We work directly with Austral participants and support coordinators, and with plan-managed, self-managed and NDIA-managed plans. Because sessions happen at home, the trip that limited local buses make hard 3 is never part of the appointment. We can work around support workers' hours and school runs too. Full programme detail is on our NDIS Physiotherapy page.
For a workplace injury, Ahmed Elsayed holds SIRA approval 22498, which covers NSW workers compensation and CTP claims. We can see you at home after a shift, and treatment on an accepted claim is usually billed through the claim rather than out of your own pocket. The full process is on our WorkCover & CTP Physiotherapy page.
FAQs
Does Well Motion have a clinic in Austral?
No. There's no Well Motion reception to walk into here. Every Austral appointment is a mobile or in-home visit, delivered from our Engadine, Mount Annan, Narellan/Harrington Park and Appin clinics. If you'd rather be seen in one of those, contact us and we'll tell you which is easiest to reach.
Can you visit someone in an Austral aged care home or retirement village?
Yes, when the resident or their family arranges it. Austral has two residential aged care sites: John Edmondson VC Gardens on Tenth Avenue, and Scalabrini's aged care village and retirement community on Edmondson Avenue 5,6. Some facilities already have visiting physiotherapy of their own 5, so we'd see a resident privately, or under their own NDIS plan if they're a participant, with the facility's agreement. A retirement community home is just a home visit.
Are physio visits covered by Medicare?
Usually not in full. A GP-managed plan for a chronic condition can attract a partial Medicare rebate for a limited number of visits. The plan covers up to 5 sessions per calendar year, or up to 10 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 7. Most private physiotherapy isn't bulk-billed. You don't need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist privately. The referral matters for the funded pathway. NDIS, WorkCover and CTP are separate funding routes altogether.
How much is 1 hour of physiotherapy?
It depends on the visit type and which funding applies. A private session can usually be claimed against private health extras. An NDIS-funded session is invoiced to your plan, and an accepted WorkCover or CTP claim is billed to the insurer. Austral sits inside our regular South-West Sydney coverage. Contact us and we'll give you the real figure before you book.
